Let’s go to……
- an Elephant Sanctuary,
- a Monkey Sanctuary &
- an African Arts & Craft market.
We depart at 08:30 for the North West Province, location of amongst others, an Elephant Sanctuary, nestled in a forest at the foothills of the Magaliesberg Mountains a few kilometers north of the Hartbeespoort dam where we are to experience an awesome site guided African elephant interaction program commencing at 10:00. Touching and walking with real African elephants is an absolute delight!
Ps. Don’t forget to ask for an “elephant kiss” while mingling with the elephants!
Following the program at the elephants, we attend a delightful guided tour at the Monkey Sanctuary.
The sanctuary provides for orphaned and abused monkeys an environment where monkeys (primates) can be given their freedom in a natural environment. Guests walk along elevated meandering wooden walkways through indigenous forests and experience a variety of exotic monkeys such as Spider monkeys, Lemurs, Bush Babies, Squirrel monkeys, Capuchin monkeys and Vervet monkeys in a natural environment.
The sanctuary is a nonsubsidized sanctuary and one of only eight free-release primate sanctuaries globally. Primates are under constant threat. They are hunted for meat, body parts or captured as pets and exported illegally to every corner of the planet. The sanctuary is funded by public donations and guided tours.
Next up, an African Arts and Craft Market of delight!
Browse the vast number of items on display and negotiate a best price at leisure. Enjoy an optional coffee, tea or beverage and a snack of choice available from a variety of restaurants at the African Arts and Craft Market.
